|
|
Hi'ya Folks
I'm a new owner of a '97 K1100LT ... and LOVING it!
When I got the bike (before I took it to my mechanic, who admittedly isn't too familiar with K-series BMW's) my Front Turn Indicators nicely came on with my running lights ... and I suppose they would either blink OFF or perhaps brighter (?) when I actually pressed the Left of Right indicator buttons.
But now - after being to the shop, and getting a few things done ... these same lights now remain OFF until the Left or Right indicator is turned on, and then they work as expected . . . blinking normally, until turned OFF.
But I want them ON, normally - just for more visibility from the front.
Anyone have a clue what MIGHT have been changed, and how I might revert to the always-on mode?
FYI: this bike came from Belgium, and now resides in Ireland. In the process of importing, I purchased a UK/Ireland lens for the main light for driving on this side of the road. THIS was one of the things that my mechanic installed for me . . . thus, he would have been working on the front light(s), and I suspect he may have either disconnected something, or wired it differently than it was before he took it apart.
I'd be happy to do the work myself, if someone can point me in the right direction.
Cheers!
Yours,
Allan Shearer

You have something aftermarket. Probably either Run-n-Lites, a Kisan Signalminder or something custom.
Without knowing which it's difficult to diagnose it over The Internet. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

The stock operation of your signals is as you are describing after the service. If you have Run-N-Lites it could be as simple as your bulbs being bad. That would be the first thing to check. With Run-N-Lites you would have dual filament bulbs. Probably an 1157 bulb. _________________ 2004 R1150RT 186,800 miles

Hey Allan,
Welcome to the forum!
If you have Run-N-Lites or something similar, they are typically connected to the parking light (the single bulb above the headlight). http://www.run-n-lites.com/AppGuide-Run-n-lites.html
Your mechanic may have disconnected on purpose - or by accident. At any rate, should be an easy fix once you figure out what you have. _________________ Jim

Thanks so much! Indeed, perhaps as simple as a bad bulb ... or I wonder if my mechanic replaced the bulbs (for good measure, while in there...) but with single-elements - not realising that they need to be dual elements.
Cool ... I'll look at this first.
Cheers!
