Hey Everyone:
Nice to be back. It's been years.
Big Red came out of storage the other day and everything's good except for the head lamp. The little LED at the top of the lighting housing is out, and the head lamp only works in the temp/momentary position. I picked up a new H4, and the the little LED now works fine, but the head lamp works just like it did before: no "normal" regular and hi-beam, and works fine in the temp/momentary positions.
Ideas? Thanks. - The Zombie _________________ Blake

Sounds to me like the switch contacts are dirty. It's not impossible to disassemble the switch contacts, however it is very easy to loose pieces when doing it.
I'd recommend just removing the switch housing from the clutch perch assy and using some contact cleaner on the contacts from the backside of the housing. Spray the cleaner while operating the switch.
It was not uncommon for there to be some "contact grease" in there for lubrication, and obviously with age and setting it can get hard and cause issues.
Just out of curiosity, you don't happen to have the euro version? The non-usa bikes have a headlight on/off switch on the right side by the starter/kill switch. _________________ Ride safe.

Hey! Contact cleaner worked just fine.
Next up: left front fork seal. I replaced this in 2015 (about 15K miles ago) and surprised to see it leaking again. _________________ Blake

Could be dirt in the seal:
