|
|
I've searched the forum under oil leak and I believe it's not the oil/water pump assy. I do not see oil leaking out of the "tube" on the front of the oil pan.
Without removing the side and front cover, I believe the oil may be coming from the the left side of the motor perhaps above the oil/water assy and eventually a drip forms on the cover of the water temp sensor and drops to the ground. Some oil is also covering the front of the left crash bar as in blow back.
Any ideas? Could it be the timing cover, if so, are there difficult sealing areas around the cover? |

I'd guess the most likely source is the valve cover. I think you might need to pull the left lower fairing to tell though. It's not really THAT much work to remove it - though not fun either.
BTW: It would help if you put the year and model of your K11 in your signature, Hit the Profile button above and go from there. (I was able to guess that you have an LT when you mentioned the crash bar though. ) _________________ 93 LT (x2)

perhaps that's it.
Thanks for responding, I've pulled the fairing apart before and I'll do it again dang nab it!
I had the valves adjusted at Ventura BMW-- didn't want to tackle it meself. I've done a K 75 before too bad I can't do the same on this K.
Called the shop and they'll look it over for me and the chance it was not done correctly in the first place. I think I'll make it easy on them (and me) by removing the fairing lowers. Perhaps I'll see what it is then! _________________ 1996 K1100lt

this question came up recently on the bmwmoa.org website. diagnosed as a faulty oil pressure sensor/switch. take a look over there in the K-bikes Tech pages. along with a verbal description of location, a photo was also posted. _________________ Ride Safe, Ride Lots |
