What's a good replacement part for the stock filter?

Grid,

The stock fuel filter is really a Mahle KL145, a good aftermarket oil filter is the Bosch 72161 if your stopping by your local parts store.

BTW, if your replacing the fuel filter, I would clean the screen off inside the tank, when you have the filter out, and try to run the tank as low as possible, so that you dont get a sleeve full of gas, like I always do.

Best of Luck,

Hi, Dave,
I don't know what stores you have where you live. Here in El Paso, I go to Auto Zone for my fuel filters. In the past, I used Auto Zone's Deutsch ff424 fuel filters. They have worked on my K-bikes for tens of thousands of miles. Recently the filters have been changed. The Deutsch ff424, made in Mexico (before that, made in Israel), has been replaced by Luber Finer ff3424, made in China. It looks just like the Deutsch ff424. I have one but have yet to use it on the bike. The cost is just over $2.

Hello!

Recently I have been installing fuel filter Mann WK 613 - Opel Vectra A 1.6i (one can easy find corss filters numbers). It is bigger then OEM one, yet it fits gas tank perfectly and cost half a price.

Best regards

I've used aFRAM G4777 In-Line Gasoline Fuel Filter for a 1992 Nissan Maxima V6 3.0L SOHC...... Works good as well... All you have to do is scrape off the exterior rubber pads on the exterior..

NAPA makes an alternate in which may be cheaper than the Fram...

In K100 days the BMW club asked K owners to submit aftermarket filters for testing in a pressure & flow machine.
The one that came out on top and we/I have used since is the FF149 FleetGuard one.
I change mine every 10-15000 Klm's.
