Well, I know its not a K11, But thats all we could rent on the other side of the crountry. And sence Flying Duck's K11 rentals hasn't opened for business....we had NO Choice.....
Well, after a $60 cab ride to Long Beach BMW, CA. And a quick SOLO ride on this 800 LB Beast. The ride was on. We made our way to 15mi south to Huntington Beach to see my Aunt. And rest for the ride out of LA....
Beauty and the Beast.........Kentucky Blue Baby
Santa Barbera....the fallen solder, this was 2 days of work, and on sunday they place a cross for every fallen soldier at the pier beach. The price of war....I hear it is a sobering sight.
SR33 from Ojia to Taft. We still have to cross those Snow Covered Mts. The High passes were so trecherious and with a 4 foot snow bank at the road, we didnt attempt to stop for pics....
Looking back at the Pacific.....The far peak is actually the Chanel Islands.
150 miles down and ready for SR58. This road is Awesome.....
325 miles and ready for Carmel by the Sea.....The Hogs Breath Inn for dinner, drinks and socializing...Carmel is one of the best places to chill out, it has the hint of Snob, but it is very unpretentious....
Morning walk on one of the most perfect beaches.
And off for a ride south to Big Sur and lunch at the Post Ranch Inn...The food was the best of the ride.....
Stoped at the Point Lobos State Park....
And back to Carmel for Sunset and more food and drinks.....
Early start up 101 to SR9 then SR35 into SF.
Across the Golden Gate, ready for a last lunch and flight home.....
All in All.....749 miles in 4 days....on the Badest Ass tour rig money can buy. The K12LT was BIG but only noticable at less than 5mph. My wife wants one now!!! Have you seen my garage??? We put the K12 through some tough stuff and it was never behind us....Sea level to 8000 foot passes.....even draging it through the corners I could hear my wife hooting and the Beast saying is that the best you got... |

Well, dang, I wish I'da known you were gonna be in the area. I live in San Jose, just a stones throw from 9, 35 and Carmel (well, closer to 9&35).
Looks like you had a nice ride. |

Cool. How's it riding that BMWing?
(I get tempted to trade up but I can't take the wingish looks of those.)
Can't beat the CA coast.
It looks like I have to go back down soon (dad having heart surgery ) so I"m considering taking the LT since it hasn't been for a good long ride in a while. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I would of loved to hook up with some of the west coasters....we were on such a tight schedule, it seemed like we didnt get much free time...Next time it will be a point A to point A instead of LA to SF....for more chill time.
FD, the 12LT was awesome. I never would of thought Id like it so much, it is awesome. And although the WINGS are not the best line, I bet they are much needed in a tip over. Which is very likely at low speed, where this thing is tricky. The side bags are a tad small, nothing like the Intergrated bags, but the Trunk makes up for lost space. The real joy is the handling. at no time did I feel like I was riding a bike this big or sacrificing my curvy road needs, and the power was pure torque....I enjoyed the bottom Torque more than the RS top end power. The Linked Power brakes were flawless also. One finger was all that was needed to drop serious speed. I think the TeleLever is the key in hiding the weight of this bike, never loading the front end and keeping the steering light.
Excellent!! |

Great stuff Breeze, couple comments....wanted or not.
1. I am glad you liked that bike, and it looks comfortable as all hell, but like others said it's way too big and clunky looking. I don't like the "absorbed" look of the bags....I like the option of taking them off and having a more naked look.
2. Some beautiful weather and scenery. Considering I just squeaked a ride in today in between snowstorms and rain, color me jealous.
3. That's a real pretty lady you have there, and it looks like she is right at home on the back of a bike. I hope you realize how rare that is.
Thanks for the pictures! _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

No, we haven't, to my knowledge. Is it full of toys we should be privy to? _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT

You spent the time you had wisely.

I've heard nothing but good about the K12LT's from those that have ridden them. I know that some are not keen on the TeleLever, but I liked the ones I've ridden.
And I agree - I think the K12LT is better looking from the cockpit than while driving by.
Rides like this are what we'll reflect on when we're riding a wheel chair in the nursing home. And having someone close to share it with makes the occasion that much more memorable. Life is good for you, abreeze. _________________ tlp

So, just out of curiosity, how much does it cost to rent a K1200LT? Do they charge by the day, the mile or some combination? _________________ 93 LT (x2)

4 days with insurance, unlimited miles and a one way fee was $859.00.

My R11S has a TLever and I love it. It does to the front what the ParaLever does to the rear.

Yes I very fortunate to have a wife that loves motorcycles, and is willing to dedicate time to finding the perfect sunset. As I am luckey to have met a group of riders here to share my passion with... |

Since you only posted this twice, I think it deserves a third mention.
