Hi all , do I need to remove the crank cover to remove the bellhousing it seems to overlap the bellhousing ?. I want to order up gaskets before I strip off the housing , is their an oil seal in the input shaft for the g-box between it and the clutch pushrod ? what seals and gaskets do i need to reassemble the bellhousing ?
Thanks
Bill Black

Yes, you need to remove the crank cover. Those gaskets are usually good for one re-use if cleaned carefully. As always be very careful not to overtighten the crank cover shoulder bolts when putting it back on.

You'll also need some sort of sealant for the bellhouising perimeter. When I did my K75RT bellhousing, I just used gasket sealant and that seemed to work fine.

There's a little tiny seal at the rear of the clutch pushrod. It is a MAJOR PITA to remove so if your clutch pushrod and the hole in the input shaft are dry "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" would be my recommendation.

You might want to order a cou;ple of extra bolts for bolting the bellhousing on. Maybe I'm just a dork but I always seem to strip the Torx heads of one or two those bolts everytime I remove a bellhousing.

BMW recommends that you replace both the main clutch nut and the six bolts/washers that hold the clutch together. I usually re-use them

You'll also want to order a new clutch nut O-ring.

How many miles does your bike have on it? Might be a good time to replace the clutch plate if you're so inclined.
