Went to the shindig at Ride West BMW today. Was hoping to win the drawing for a new Xchallenge they were giving away - didn't win.
Their red F800S demo has been tempting me lately so I got the sales guy to let me take it out for a spin.
It's not a K bike. The engine and exhaust seemed rough to me.
But it's very lgiht and pretty fast. And it's got some decent torque for it's weight. Imagine my surpise when I goosed it coming out of a corner like I would my K1100RS and the front wheel picked up before the turn was over.
It has a rev limiter at 8,500.
It has cool roundels on the side - I"m going to see if they fit on a K tank.
I was toying with the idea of getting one but I''ll stick with the bricks for now.
In September, they'll be coming out with the GS version. That should be a pretty cool bike. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Touring Sport BMW on a cold and windy day. Took a H-D rider to test rides on R1200RT & K1200GT. He was in awe! Then they offered him $7000 trade in on his 2004 Road King and then he was pissed!! Lots of fun! _________________ Dave Norris KOG 248

Was terrible here in LI.
Lots of rain and wind. Better than snow I guess. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

Temps ranged between 16 and 33, but it didn't snow today, and the roads were clear. Only 4 riders at the open house... yours truly, 2 GS's, and a K12LT trike. Oh yeah... and the very happy new owner of the above hack right off the Hannigan delivery trailer

Before Xmas, my dad went into the HD dealership in Palm Springs to buy me a motorcycle model as a present. (He didn't know where to find a BMW model.)
The place was pretty packed on a Saturday before Xmas so nobody was paying him any attention. He walked over to the gal at the parts desk and announced that he wanted to buy a motorcycle. Three sales guys instantly swooped in on him like vultures. Then he held up his fingers about six inches apart and said "About this big." Everybody in the store had a good chuckle at the expense of the sales guys. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I would have liked to have watched that. _________________ tlp

Only the Reasonists. They believe in an evidence-based world, something called Rationalism. But it's a tiny group, not so influential.
