Folks
The crankshaft (RHS) cover on my bike is pretty tatty. I picked up a spare on fleBay for a good price, and have stripped/lacquered it ready to fit.
Forgive a couple of dumb questions
With the engine in-situ and bike on main-stand, will I lose a lot of oil when I drop the RHS engine cover ?
Does it mostly drain back to the sump ?
Should I lay the bike down on the LHS crash bar, to allow oil to drain away from the RHS cover ? _________________ C1 200 (2001)

Putting in on the sidestand for 10-15 when warm should help a bit. But you'll still have some oil come out - not too much though - a towel on the ground is all you'll need.
When putting the cam cover back on be VERY CAREFUL not to overtighten the bolts. They are "shoulder" bolts and if you turn them once they've bottomed out, you will strip threads in the engine block where they mount. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

You may lose a couple of ounces of oil that is sitting inside the cover. but that is all. But what to do about the coolant hose is the bigger question.
It can be removed with the right side cover and installed in the new cover. I have folded the top section over itself and held it in place with tyraps to reinstall in the new cover. Drain the radiator first.
