The "new" one is the one I have....was murder on my ass until I got a sheepskin. Looks cool though.
That sky blue RS looks mint, love the color. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

All the pictures I see of the Canyon Dual Sport show that the passenger section curves up slightly in front. Does that help with what I would call passenger-bump creep? You know- hit one or two larger road bumps and the passenger (Cathy) has to transfer her weight to the pegs and shift her bottom backwards on the seat.
We tend to make more frequent stops as we get more experienced- a.k.a. OLDER, so the stock seat is still acceptable for now. But if a Corbin seat would keep Cathy from frequently having to "reset" her tush after hitting bumps we might be willing to upgrade to a Canyon D.S.
Thanks,

John, you may be onto something there regarding passenger support from stock to Corbin. I've spent lots of hours on stock and I can't say I've ever had a passenger tag along. In my experience with my old Corbin, my wife has tagged along and seemed to stay put when we rode over bumps. The new seat is contoured the same and I look forward to the day I can actually road test it...something to do with old man winter still clinging to life out this way...dumping 8 inches of snow just two weeks ago!
Anyway, I do notice my new seat is harder than the old and I think it has more to do with foam density and less to do with worn out foam. Like Off The Grid previously commented, his new seat without a sheepskin was too hard for him. I figure this new Corbin will flex less as the bike hits a bump in the road. Even with a similar contour I wonder if this new Corbin, being harder, will spring a passenger up and forward as the bike hits a bump.
In my state, you can bet a law will be passed to go after bump creep by requiring passengers to wear seat belts. |

In general, a firmer seat (within reason) is better for long rides. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

my passenger... that crazy wench micki... would slide forward on the corbin dual canyon and 1 of the russells we had...
she does not slide at all on our present russell or our present corbin dual tour...
those anti slide cabinet liners you can get at the hardware stores are supposedly good to prevent passenger sliding...
i put on a set of passenger peg lowering kits and that helped her too...
her present problem is tail bone pain after 300 miles... this just recently started... both the russell and the corbin...
we were going to do a ride in at russell and get a proper seat made to our specs... but russell has been kinda flaky...
so we are going to get a bill mayer seat when we get back to socal in october... we will be in his area for 6 months so he can tweak it if need be...
i spoke to him about passenger tail bone pain and such... he promised me a two up back to back to back 500 mile a day unit... he is the origional maker of the day long... the old ones say mayer day long... he sold the day long to russell and moved to socal...
im good with the russell or the corbin dual tour... but if that crazy wench gets cranky... well lets just say we need to avoid that... or she may end up drizzled with honey and staked to a fire ant hill...
so the mayer it will be... when we ride... just about every weekend... it almost always turns into 300+ miles... so the seat is important...
