|
|
My bike was built in 9/92 it has the large 28 amp hour battery.
When I went to see if I could easily remove my battery to check
it's state of charge & overall condition I discovered the left hold
down threaded rod was swinging in the breeze. I've looked at
the exploded parts pics & can't figure how the dang thing should
attach to the battery holder box. It looks like the threaded rod
was rigged to attach to a 6mm nut which in turn was threaded
onto a stud, there isn't enough thread in the nut to share. I thought
that maybe I could locate a 6mm threaded rod coupler but no
luck locally on that front.
Help !! Please... _________________ Kent

When upgrading to the Panasonic battery I had to make new rods to hold down the battery because the Panasonic is about 2" taller than a "stock" battery.
I made mine out of threaded rods and cut them to size, 2 nuts together made a "head" to tighten them down. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

When I switched to the big Panasonic, I used hold down bolts from a 2 valve K. They are a smidgen longer than the 4V bolts. Part number for the old ones is 61211459734 - about $5 each. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

That's it, the previous owner must have switched to the larger
battery without increasing the size of the hold down rods.
Sometimes you just need someone to nudge you away from
the assumption loop thinking...
Thanks for your help ! _________________ Kent
