Really like the RS just as it is, provided that the backroads are windy and the speeds stay below 55-60.

But a good portion of our travels will include 4 lane highways and we live a pretty good distance from many of the places that we want to visit.

So..... yeah, I did it. Looks will have to grow on me Shocked , but what a difference at 70-75. Rode a bunch today with sunglasses and the visor flipped up. I did get the 10.5" tall model and my vision is about 1.5" to 2" above the top edge.

Have to admit that it was a really good mod. While the N-Com works well at 65+ without the Aeroflow, it is much better with very little wind noise. And the bug plaster is on the Aeroflow, and not on us.

We did about 130 miles (about 2/3 highway at 70-75) to the seacoast for lunch and a visit to Max BMW then the 130 miles back. MUCH more relaxed, don't feel like I spent the day in a windtunnel. I'm convinced.

Now if they could find a way to fold it up and stow it when we get to the twisties.

(slightly larger pictures)

Guess this REALLY places me in the old farts club, huh?

That doesn't look too bad. I had been tempting to put one on mine for the same reasons and benefits you state, but the look is a bit of an obstacle.

What was the old TV ad? "Try it, you'll like it".

As I said, one use and I am convinced. Major improvement. So much so that it far outweighs the negative looks.

Doesn't quite make an RS into an LT, but I am much happier on the high speed slab.

Of course, if anyone still can't get past the looks of an Aeroflow- let me know- I'll send you an RS specific Laminar Lip for shipping costs only. I had one before the AF- it ain't worth squat for wind deflection. But the Aeroflow? EXCELLENT

Ok, who the heck rides 55 to 60 on a K1100RS?!?!

Kidding , kidding.

I just bought a 93 K1100RS and the previous owner had one with the bike.
Instead of the vercro tabs, he used 3M inter lock, larger rectangle shapes.
If you e-mail 3M they give out samples, clear, white & black for free.
I took a bus from Milwaukee, WI to Mineapolis to get the bike. Megabus.com $28.00 cheaper the farther out you book. Anyway's I did not
leave Mineapolis until about 5:30PM and was home for the ten O' clock news. 345 miles. When dark came, the temps dropped to just under 40 degrees. I was REALLY thankful for that shield. It gives a lot of coverage when & where needed.[/url]

Yeah, I know. But:

#1) I am over 50. Hate to admit it but as I get older, I just appreciate riding, fast or slow.

#2) LOTS of BIG animals around here- moose & bear besides the deer herds. On the twisty backroads who knows what is going to come out of the woods around the next turn.

Looks pretty good to me, and anything that improves comfort gets my vote!

I should be getting my Cee bailey in the mail any day now. Cool

Wish you had said that about four weeks ago, before I had one shipped over, new. Wind deflection is a minimal improvement but you have to admit it looks cool. Having an Airflow shipped is really prohibitive, when you add in import. Sometimes it pays to trade comfort for looks.

It doesn't look too bad....

Really helped on the trip- especially at 70+. Arrived without having that "fight against the wind" feeling.

Me too, I guess. As long as we own it, right? At least we don't ride LT's. Shocked (Boy, am I asking for trouble now!) Wink

The availability of this farkle convinced me to buy the K1100RS. I had considered buying an RS six years earlier, but knew I'd want for more weather protection. Didn't know about the Aeroflow at that time.

I agree. Not as nice as going screenless, but I prefer the Aeroflow over the Parabellum.

With.

Without.

Here's a good view showing the two screen heights available.

rydor and I left our Aeroflows in the cabin as we took the group ride at Hungry Mother. And we were glad to have them back on the next day as we rode through the Kentucky rain (anybody hear Elvis now?).
