Well, I figure having a K11RS and being a K11OG member makes this group a good shoulder to cry on
I've had an ABS 1 problem for a good while now. I did the DIY diganostic test and got a reading of a bad front pressure modulator. I put doing anything about it on the back burner and just rode it. I recently took it to a BMW dealer to have some other work done that I couldn't get around to. I had them run a dianostic on their computer, I was hoping that my test was wrong and maybe it was just misadjusted sensor or something simple. But no such luck, same result as my DIY, front pressure modulator is (using a highly technical German term) KAPUT.
They quoted $1,900 for a new one. I know that no one's surprised by that amount, not if you own a K11. But man, it still shocks the brain/wallet. Chicago BMW can get it for ONLY $1,360, a steal
I guess I can troll for one online and maybe find a good deal. But on such an important component I'm leery of taking that route. I guess I'll ride it w/o ABS. But one of the reasons I've kept this bike over others (besides the fact I really like the K11RS series) was the ABS. SIGH !
Anyway, sorry for the waste of bandwidth on my self-pity party . I love my RS (4+ years now), but this is such a bummer! |

I have one down in the barn, off of my 93 K11RS, as far as I know it works. Removed the ABS when I did the last sidecar upgrades. Send me a PM if interested.

I am SURE you can find one here for a reasonable price, and installation should not be that hard. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

Thanks for the encouragement and offers. I'm interested in the modulator you've got Mike, I'll PM you about it. BTW, I saw the great article on your K11RS/EML sidecar rig in a BMW MOA magazine.
I'm hoping the install of another Modulator can be a DIY job. I don't think I could get a BMW tech to do it since it'd be a used part. |

| You can handle the switch I'm sure, but for the record, BMW techs WILL install used parts. At least they do at the shop I use... |
