I used to have some little PIAAs under the LT fairing. They were great until one of them got dust inside the lens which is impossible to clean without breaking the housing apart.
So I picked up some of the cheapo $15 driving/fog lights at WalMart and installed them instead. I bought some yellow 55W H3s for them on eBay for a few bucks.
I didn't bother with any speical mounting I just have them held on each with one of the screws for the black underpanel of the fairing.
They work great for what I want - being visible in the daytime. They also work great for lane-splitting as cars seem to notice me better with them on and move over. They have a VERY wide beam - at night I can see them lighting up the interiors of cars next to me on the freeway.
For the investment they are great.
They probably work as fog lights too. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I used these lights for this install: http://k11og.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=27848&highlight=#27848 of course I went whole hog and took the black plastic panel out drilled holes and reinforced it with aluminum stock, then bolted the lights to that. I also added a toggle switch so that I could turn them off when starting the bike. _________________ 1997 K1100LT

Friends,
Here is a similar inexpensive option.
I installed Blazer Ultra White Series UW3675 (around $30 at PepBoys)
It came with 55W H3 halogen bulbs, mounting brackets, LED toggle switch, and a wiring harness.
I threw out the wiring harness that came with it and got another Eastern Beaver relay kit.
The results.
I'm very pleased with the increased lighting and visibility. The fog lights automatically turn off on high beam or by the toggle switch.
The only thing I had to be careful about was making sure the wiring & or bulb housing was not hitting anything when the steering is turned from one extreme to the other.
