Does anyone have any experience with coolant temp reduction products? I am presently running BMW coolant in a 55/45 mix and wouldn't mind trying to drop the coolant temps a bit.

Any experience/advice welcome.

I tried Water Wetter a few years ago in my K. I have a capillary type water temp gauge on the bike that reads in actual degrees. After the treatment, I saw a rise in my normal running water temps. Maybe it was removing more heat, I don't know. I drained it out fairly soon after that. I run a 25-30% antifreeze to 70-75% distilled water mix. Water is a more efficient heat conductor that glycol.

The bike normally runs 90-100 degrees above the ambient temperature, but rarely runs above 190 while running at highway speeds.

I tried it and it didn't do a thing.

I think the best thing for cooling the K is a fan switch that you can kick on before it gets too hot.

The best thing is a 3 row cooler from an old k100 8v.

I can attest to the 3 row radiator!

Cools her right on down.....

Trying to find a way to convert my 2 core to 3 core thru an independent....

There's gotta be someone out there that can do this resonably.

I use Evans Cooling. Living at a higher elevation (8000ft) and there being less atmospheric pressure, I was having coolant spooge all over the side of the bike every time I shut it down. This was not due to overfilling the overflow as there was barely enough in it to be visible in the site window. Changing ratios did not prevent this. Evans Cooling product does not expand nearly as much (nearly not at all by comparison) as usual coolant. This cured my problem.

Note: This does NOT change the running temp of the engine nor reduce the amount of heat radiated from the engine. Yeah my bike splashes me with some heat, but for whatever reason, my seating position does not place my upper legs against the tank like I've read it does for others. I can't explain that, but there's space between the tank and my legs for air to circulate and I've ridden for hours in 100F+ temps and the biggest issue was that it was just plain nasty hot out.

When riding aggressively grabbing the tank with your knees aids in controlling the bike. It can also keep you from sliding back and forth if you have a slippery seat.
