Being in super intelligent mode I broke the wires taking off the throttle grip to fit new master cylinder. It's all soldered back together.
So - you say - what's the question - where dya disconnect the grips and can you pull the connector back through the bars and take it out??

The connector is under the tank on the left hand side. I think each grips wires are brown and black (from memory) so there will be 2 x sets. You can disconnect here and feed the wires back up towards the handlebars. There is a small hole in the central part of the handlebars where the wires run through up to the grips. If you take the bar end weights off you can pull them through. It's fiddly and as you know the wires break easily - I have done it myself. _________________ 1980 CB900FA

NO not unless you can figure out how to remove the crimps from the connector. They are supplied loose, the cables are threaded through the bars (pull a draw string in when removing them or if you forget, try thin string & blow through with an air line) then the wires are pushed into the connector body. It is possible, Coz I did it yonks ago. Jewellers srewdriver & judicious poking IIRC,

Thanks guys - I hope they work without having to strip them out.
Tim - was over for the Moreton Hall (?) rally - my master cyl leaked on way down from Hollyhead. Put in a new piston but it acted up again recently. Missed the Saturday going for part. |

Hi, Al,
I had both master cylinders leak (at different times) on the '95 K1100LT I bought in 2005. I put a new piston in the front master cylinder as well as honed it with a very small brake cylinder hone (fine stones, not medium as originally supplied). It was working well until I hit the deer, and since I've now sold the bike, I've lost track of it. I couldn't find a hone small enough to do the rear master cylinder, so I replaced the master cylinder rather than chancing putting in a piston and it later leaking.

Shall you be at the Moreton in Marsh (Gloucester) one this year? I was at Moreton Morrell (Warwickshire) in 2003 & 2007. Just booking now.
(it's all Moreton innit?) _________________ Regards Tim,

The connector pins can be easily removed from the plastic connector without damaging them with a pin pusher available from electronics supply outlets. _________________ Paul - '93 K11/12RS (sold), 2002 R1100S BCP and '03 RC51 KOG 29 |

Phil- new front cylinder on now. I bought the piston as an emergency in UK and decided to fit it anyway.
Tim- yes going to Moreton Marsh. K1100LTSE Co. Mayo reg 94MO dark grey.
It will be nice to drive on good roads for a while. Hate the ferry though.
Wera - hope I wont need to do that - I soldered broken wires. Thanks |
