That looks like the rear end of a Suzuki Samarai towing that old Harley. I bought one new in '87 and had a blast in it, until I buried it in the surf at Hatteras and then it went downhill from there, (who knew salt water was bad for transmissions and differentials?) Dig those funky phone booths too.
Awsome license plate that has BMW on it!

Final result of the Top Case mounting reiforcement.
Two steel vertical braces each side, going from rear lateral case support mounting stud to lower top case frame stud.
With an cross-link screwed.
Now, the whole package (top case and support), flexes a lot less, and provides more support to the passenger.
Next step: put some LED lateral Brake Lights in the vertical braces.

Yesterday, sunday morning, the day started cold.... About 9°C.
I made some calls, and fast we have some friends to ride to Guararema, to the Mirante do Paraíba restaurant to eat something good.
Felipe had his baby sitter, so he stayed home and readed about good old motocycles.
Airton Senna Highway, pointing north.
Here Anir and Alexandra, trying to follow the Good Old Motorbrick....
And finnaly he passed me.....in an moment of distraction.
And that's Rubens, with his Road King.
Some clouds, but no rain.
With the new Works rear shock, the fast turns become easy....The KLT felt like a train on the track.
Local Guararema hand made art souvenires.
Stone paved road.
Trying to find the restaurant.
Do you see an wooden deck? It's there!
Paraíba river.
The great looking GS1150.
Here the asphalt ends. Some 900meters of dirt surface.
A bucolic rural scene.
Parking the bikes.
Adriana and Alexandra.
Rubens, me and Anir.
Paraiba river fishes, the Mandi-Guaçus.
Rubens and the waiters seeing the Mandis.
Choosing the food.
The Winner is: a chiken and rice risotto with extra-virgen olive oil and exotic spices. Nothing about burgers today, j o!!
The happy KLT riders.
The coal stove, with great enamel saucepans!
Praparing some marinera paellas!
Old Paella pans.
And the traditional after luch brazillian coffe, the better in the world!
And now, after some caipirinhas, deciding the route to take....

Fantastic pics as always Gui. Can't wait to visit Brasil again in December.
How does Adrianna like the shock/pipe?

Adriana found the Remus a bit loud.... Maybe after 5-8hours riding will become a little exaustive.
But the acceleration noise is terrific!
And the Works.....she loved.
I cut the progressive front springs 2 rings longer than the original ones, and the front suspension feels more responsive, and I have less diving during the hard braking.
December is a good time to ride around here! I'll wait you and Paula for a Churrasco.

Let's go for another ressurection....
Back in 1951, my ganfather Egisto Da Rós and his 2 brothers Raulino and Gelindo bought 3 brand new britsh made James Capitain 175cc 2 stroke motorcycles.
That bikes was used until newer machines was availables, and only the my granpa'James survived.
The James stayed in an barn for 30years, and I remember in my childhood to seat on the James and dream about cruising the dirt roads of that days.
Here is it, and soon I'll start to work in it's comebak to life.
Here I and Felipe. Maybe some day Felipe could ride in the bike that his Gand-grand-father and his grand mother cruised....
I have a pictures of my mother with 12 years on the James, and I'll scan and post soon.

Hi, Gui,
I always knew about the Famous James, but I never knew anyone who actually bought one, especially new! The bike looks to be mostly there, so restoration shouldn't be extremely difficult. Parts are probably available in UK. I would worry about fuel. I would think it uses a pre-mix and I believe all of Brazil's gasoline has a percentage of ethanol. I don't believe the oil stays mixed very well with an ethanol blend. Good Luck. Show us the progress and the finished bike! I think Felipe would be honored to ride his Great-Grandfather's Famous James. _________________ Ride Safe,

Yes, the Famous James is a quite rare bike to see, despite it was produced in great numbers.
The fuel cap has a cup, to mix the 2 cycle oil, I believe in 22 parts to 1. And the ethanol have a bad effect on the internal parts of all engines, cause the high porcentage of water dilutted.
HEre a original picture of a sales folder:
And the progress of the work will be posted.

ANd here 6 years ago. She is in the right, holding the original license plate, AL006, with her mother, My Grandmother Nilse.

It warms my heart to see the Remus in Brasil getting used.
I've been to Minas! Beautiful country there. One of the things that is amazing about Brasil that you can't really appreciate that much is the quality of the stone/tile work. Most of the towns/smaller cities have cut stone sidewalks and cobblestone streets! You only see that in Europe usually.
That type of stonework in America would cost a fortune. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

IF you could find someone skilled enough to be able to do it. Older skills such as that type of masonry work are becoming a lost art here in America.
Beautiful as it is it's a shame we can't have any of that here. _________________ Ride safe.
