Found this on ebay, I don't believe it's a factory color but I wanted to confirm. My bike is going to be repainted soon, and I really like this. Also, can anyone tell what the seat is from looking at it? It looks to be a recovered factory seat to me. The translation of the add says it's a comfort seat.

1. I believe that's a stock color. Looks cool too, and the black final drive...../drool.

2. That's a stock seat that BMW produced that was supposed to be a step up from "normal" stock....avoid at all costs.

3. Pricey scoot. Looks good, but too expensive.

it's a comfort seat - it's supposed to be a step up from the stock seat. Some people actually like them. Try finding one... Better yet, try finding one that's actually comfortable...

It's got some interesting mesh in front of the radiator - I'd be concerned it would reduce airflow too much in this climate.

There's a website floating around somewhere that lists the colors available in a given year. If you can find it, you can probably figure out what color it is, or else someone here will know.

BM Bikes is the site:

http://www.bmbikes.co.uk/schemepages/schemek1100rs.htm

They only show Marakesh and Mystic Red, Palmetto and blacnk. But that can't be all-inclusive because it doesn't show the SE paint scheme.

The ETK doesn't show any silvers.

Could be custom.

The bike is listed as registered in 04/96, but I believe it is older than that.

The footpeg mounting plates are from an ABS I bike, but it has ABS II.
I would wager that it is a transition model from August-October 1993, when the new features were phased in from the factory.

The photgraph may be misleading, but it does not correspond with any of the factory colours, so I think this may well be a custom respray.
If you take it as a MY '94 bike, I would suggest that the only factory colour which is even close would be 'Silk Blue'

Mounts are shown, but no side cases?

Additionally, there are no 'K1100 RS' stickers on the top edge of the belly pan, where it meets the fairing lowers.

A classic sign of a poorly executed respray, simply to save $60 Rolling Eyes

I'm not sure about the quality of the respray, but the color itself looks badass.

One thing that continually amazes me is the timeless nature of the design.

You have a bike that's 15 years old and still looks like a new design.

(I do happen to think the RS looks cooler than the LT)

I was not casting doubt on the quality of the respray - he likely spent several hundred €

Why not finish the job properly with the correct decals, and let the great unwashed know exactly what you are riding Smile

I don't see the need to have them. I prefer a bike without them that has a "cleaner" look and doesn't have decals interfering with the lines of the bike - personal preference.

And if the buyer wants them they can just go to the dealer and buy them.

Well... Yes and no. Having lived in the US, Canada, and now the UK, despite making approximately the same relative salary as I made in North America, my disposable income is now higher, and my lifestyle considerably better. I have to undergo medical treatment over the next few months. It will cost me nothing. Under the same circumstances in the US? Quite possibly, I'd be -- to put it simply -- utterly fucked, financially speaking. Like one of my work colleagues who holds US citizenship and lived there for years, if I lived in the US I might be pushed into moving to the UK (or Canada) to escape being financially bled to death by ever-increasing medical insurance costs to cover chronic health issues.

In short, while taxes may indeed be higher here, they are but one component of an overall quality-of-life picture. The cost of living and quality of life varies significantly from region to region and with personal circumstances. Gross generalities like "Europe is <x>" are, at best, inaccurate -- even if they may be appropriate for a particular country, region, or demographic group.

Furthermore, I have never, ever, ever seen anyone convince anyone of anything via the inflammatory political quips and arguments that tend to infest Internet fora as elections approach, and they inevitably result in pointless anger and divisiveness. Ballots are kept secret for good reason. Therefore, shouldn't expression of political opinion be confined to the voting booth where it belongs? I thought this was a motorcycle forum...

Oh the irony of telling someone to keep their political leanings in the voting booth while exercising your free speech.

What's next beating someone for fighting? Rolling Eyes

It is a motorcycle forum so I would hazard a guess that it may be a Euro spec paint scheme.

Freedom of speech is about not preventing expression. I'm not preventing my correspondent from discussing politics, but I am exercising my right to free speech in pointing out that it's off-topic and inclined to incite arguments -- both of which I would hope participants would choose to avoid. However, I wouldn't stop anyone from posting either, even if I could. Furthermore, the Dungeon exists, it would appear, precisely to provide a forum for such content.

It's a custom job - I'd hazard a base sliver with an airbrushed top coat of the darker felspar colour... nicely done if you're into that sort of thing; he's even done the back wheel to keep it matching, and left a cleaning margin on the ends of the spokes. Wonder what his helmet looks like?!

The ebay notes say a custom colour, too, BTW.
