Don't forget to put some heat shrink on the ball chain clip that attaches to the throttle linkage cable!
I've been running with the cruise cntl for several months now and it is fantastic on the long flat stretches. But I try to keep most of my riding on the twisties.
While decelerating hard into a decreasing radius turn using engine braking and a handful of front brake before entry, I noticed unusually high RPM just as the turn was getting tighter. Additional lean angle and feathering the brake in the turn allowed me to make it through the turn along with that undesirable emotion that anyone that rides a motorcycle sometimes feels. I'm glad I was able to skip the pain experience this time. A few blips of the throttle brought the RPM back to normal idle range. What the heck was that all about?
After removing the side plastic back home I was able to get the problem to repeat. While opening and closing the throttle several times, the little ball on the end of the short cable (from the cruise control kit) that attaches to the throttle body linkage worked it's way out of the ball chain linkage clip and hung on the side of the clip. This took up the slack in the cruise cntl cable and caused the throttle to remain open about 5 percent. Not good while engine braking into a turn!
So I found small piece of black plastic tube that came with the kit and it was not shrink tube as expected. It fit a little to loose for me. I was concerned it may rub against the air intake for the throttle body and move out of position. Not wanting to take any chances I used some shrink tube for the fix.
Hope this helps someone,

I squeezed that coupling part closed so the ball wouldn't do that.
I think Drake mentioned that in his install post. _________________ Ride safe.

Yup. I use small Vice-Grips to get those links tightly closed. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I did the heat shrink thing. Made it a almost solid piece of cable. No problems since install except except the speed varies a little more that I think it should, + or - 3mph. Duck, should I try a different setting on the servo? Didn't you do that and how did it work out? _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT

Mine will drop a mph or two when first starting up a hill. Doesn't bother me.
I can't remember if I ever messed with the DIP switches or not. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I noted that instruction during the install. I squeezed the gaps closed top and bottom. The little ball on the end of the cable was still able to work it's way out of the hole in the middle and some how jam on the edge. I believe the shrink tube has it fixed for good now.
Did you crush the clip as to keep the ball captive or only to close the gap?

I didn't crush it per se, but I sqeezed the gap closed enough that the edges had a little overlap. _________________ Ride safe.
