I'm looking at gaining the ability to see behind me. The stock mirrors just are not wide enough. Is that threaded hole on the right handlebar cluster a hole for a mirror stalk?
Whats this I hear about mirror extenders? _________________ '96 K1100 LT se

yep, you can use pretty much any mirror with an M10 x 1.0 thread.
Many guys use the later airhead mono mirrors, they have a pleasing satin black lacquer finish.
They come in two width fittings, so check carefully before you buy on flebay
What you really need are bar-end mirrors - they give you an unrivalled view of what is behind you.
Widely available from classic bike stores - look for Triumph, AJS or BSA spares locally. _________________ C1 200 (2001)

Not sure about the LT, but on my RS I got an extra set of the stock miiror extenders and doubled them up. Just got some longer screws from Lowe's and mirror extender from Drake.
That moves the mirrors out about an inch, doesn't sound like much, but its enough to make a difference.

No extenders for the LT.
K75 mirrors work too in the handlebars. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

That's why MOTOGP bikes have mirrors.
Oh, wait.... they don't
The only thing I use my mirrors for is to watch cars shrink
J/K
Good luck w/ that. I just shift my head a little to see better and my left mirror is set to look at the area most directly behind me and the right is set for further back.
Kinda like bi-focals. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

It won't be long before Drake has a rearview cctv camera mounted in Kato's hands projecting the image to his bluetooth HUD helmet. _________________ Ride safe.

I think the LT mirrors are fine - especially compared to the RS mirrors. Getting them pointed in the right direction is th key IMO. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Would you mind providing a little more detail about where to get the parts, I'd really want to do that - IMHO, the mirrors are really flawed... _________________ ---------------------

Parts you need:
46632309805 adaptor left
46632309806 adaptor right
46632309807 adaptor left
46632309808 adaptor right
They are not cheap. Even with a 20% discount at Chicago BMW those parts will run you $157 plus shipping.
Then get some longer bolts at the hardware store. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I'd love to get the LT mirrors further out a bit, but I can see why visibility would be a problem on the much narrower RS. _________________ M N B

the LT mirrors work fine for me - like Drake said - getting them adjusted right is the trick. I think there's a write up on one of the other sites. I also have the baby spot mirrors installed. _________________ Jim

Was in Super Stop and Shop today and I always gravitate towards the Auto aisle, sometimes you can find some cool stuff for cheap....what the hell do supermarkets know about pricing auto stuff?
Anyway, found some adhesive-backed Bell brand "blind spot" mirrors for a dollar each!
They fit perfectly in the bottom half of the outer part of the mirror.
Will have report and pics tomorrow! _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

My mirrors work great on the RS. I get a perfect view of my stainless bar ends.
