I got a couple of hockey pucks on eBay a while back - intending to do the sidestand extension mod. But I ended up not doing it because I thought they were too thick and made the bike too up right and thus suspectible to tipoverss due to wind or whatever.

I have very limited width in my garage to get both of the K1100s and my car in there. I've found that a 3/4" thick board under the sidestand keeps the mirrors from hitting the concrete wall.

Yesterday it occurred to me that all I had to do was thin up the hockey puck. So this morning, being very careful to retain my fingertips, I used my tablesaw to thin the hockey puck down to 3/4".

Then I squared it off and bolted it on. I enlarged the footprint a tad for parking on soft surfaces but to keep the rubber from melting kept the sides closest to the exhaust when up even with the old fooprint.

You need to be careful with a mod like this Duck. I did it on mine using a block of aluminium and because my sidestand had a little play in it, the new block got caught behind the centrestand when folded up.

It meant that I couldn't drop the sidestand with my foot when I stopped 'cos it was jammed in. Not much fun at all!

Right you are. I'm going to need to trim it a bit.

Every time I use my sidestand now I can think of lovely hockey mom Sarah Palin.

Great idea. I solved th problem by not using my sidestand, but your hockey puck gives me hope.
