Just got finished rebuilding oil/water pump with new seals and 9-shaft. Reinstalled, filled w/ oil and anti, running to continue anti fill , capped off and opened oil cap to fill and bike died! engine seemed warm, plugged up oil pressure wire on pump and temp sensor and still no start. gives code 1133. then tried fan test - didn't work. no fuel pump up when turned on? could I have fried my HES? would that cause the fuel pump to not come on? I removed and reinstalled all the plug in relays, even tried to power up the fuel pump directly with a test light but would not make noise. Can you help?
thanks

apparently my fuel pressure reg decided to act up. i was getting no fuel. pulled reg off and am getting fuel, charged the fuel rail and bike still wont run. Got fuel and spark. Figure while I got it appart I will change out some cracked looking fuel lines. Does any one know where to get a aftermarket fuel pressure reg and if it would be available at the locak autoparts store? _________________ Thanx

Hi Reece
I think your only option would be to use the correct BMW part, you would have a job getting one of the correct specs size pressure etc off the shelf from another application, if you vary from the specs it could end up damaging the pump or the injectors or just not running right anyway.
Better off looking on Ebay, breakers or contact Flying Duck, he has used K parts available.
I think the BMW part number is 13531464588 but do check its the right one for your year.
Regards

hi Reece,
I haven't heard of the pressure regulator being a problem - but I haven't heard of everything.
I would check all the usual suspects first - switches - sidestand, kill, and clutch - and check all the related connectors. _________________ Jim

Forgot to ask, when you say getting no fuel, is your fuel pump running without the regulator fitted, as you did day it wasnt when the problem first appeared.

Reese,
I doubt it's your regulator. When you first turn the ignition to Run, do you now hear the fuel pump run? If not, you have another problem and not the regulator. The regulator is NOT connected to the electrical circuits at all.
Check all your interlocks(kill switch, sidestand switch, Neutral swith, clutch interlock) and the fuel tank connector.

And maybe the side stand switch?
Sorry Jim, I just scrolled up and saw you already suggested that.
I don't know if problems with the switch would be so intermittent but if all else fails check the wiring there. It does cut off the fuel pump. _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT

The pressure reg was locked up for some reason. I pressurised it backwards with the fuel pump and it cleared itself. I also bought an aftermarket pressure reg with a built in guage for a BMW M series motor and will install it soon. While fiddling arpound under her skirt I also found a short in the plug for the pump. Pulled out the connectors and tightened them and reinstalled all is well. Thanx for all the suggestions. They really helped me go through the thought process of elimination. Later

Thanks, Reece. Now I've heard of a pressure regulator going south. Connector problems seem to be a fairly common issue. Good to know you got it going. _________________ Jim
