It's finally gotten to the point where I will no longer be an email hostage to Comcast. If you have me in your address book/contacts, you might want to update it.
I'm going to buy a domain and some hosting soon but I already have the following email address and my mail program pointed to it:
s-m-i-t-h-d-u-c-k AT g-m-a-i-l DOT c-o-m

thanks for the update. I figured out awhile back that gmail was the best way to go - did not want to change my email address every time I switched isp's.
Gmail is good - plus you get Picasaweb with it. I figure gmail will be around longer than I will. _________________ Jim

No, I won't. I won't hate it eiither though. It won't matter because I have my Vista Mail program pointed towards the Gmail POP server.
But I'll be ecstatic to not be bound to Comcast any longer. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

That's ok, gmail's authentication db goes off line plenty.
Duck, try setting up IMAP instead of POP. That way if you get a new computer, all your email is right there. _________________ M N B

Gmail is ok for a backup.
I hate the interface though. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

That's why you enable POP or IMAP access and just use a normal email client. I can't stand their stupid way of organizing mail. But a 6gb storage POP/IMAP account? Sign me up! _________________ M N B

It's over 7 gig now - and counting. You also get Picasaweb... Oh, I already said that, didn't I? _________________ Jim

Yup. I use Picasaweb. I like it because of the plugin for iPhoto. It makes exporting easy. Of course, I still have to actually OPEN iPhoto and export photos to Picasaweb in order to share them... _________________ M N B
