I was putting a new Road Pilot 2 on the rear of my bike and wanted to try these out.
I usually get a local shop to mount my tires as the dealer won't mount tires not purchased from them (for outrageuos prices). But, nobody has the BMW balancer adaptor needed to balance the tires. So, I just put them on and it didn't seem like a problem.
Then I saw these mentioned on ADV and thought I'd give them a try.

It's a pretty cool idea, you put about 2 oz. of these tiny ceramic beads inside the tire, they're about the size of a pin head, and they spin around loose inside the tire and the centrifical force causes them to gather in the lighter parts of the tire, balancing them. Every time you stop and start again they repostion themselves so even as the tire wears, they keep it balanced.
You install them by removing the valve stem and pouring them in with a special bottle with a plastic tube on it that fits over the valve stem.
It cost about $20 with shipping for enough to do both wheels.
The bike does seem a bit smoother, I especially noticed my mirrors were much clearer and not all buzzed out.
So far I'm very pleased to finally have my tires balanced. _________________ Steve

Steve - a lot of people have the BMW tire balancer. Good to know the bead thing is working for you. http://www.marcparnes.com/BMW_Motorcycle_Wheel_Balancer.htm _________________ Jim

I first came across beads for balancing here:-

So I have been meaning to find a gunshop and get me some of those beads and try it, but gun shops are a rarity here!!
There was quite a long discussion of it here:-
