my hazzard and heated grips buttons don't seam to work I looked at the wires and they seam to be ok. was wandering if the switches can be repaired or if I need to get new ones.
at this time I don't really need them to work but if it an easy fix then
I'll take them apart that is "If they come apart" I assume the hazzard switch controlls the four way flasher and I do have heated grips but I don't know if the button is bad or if the heated grips are bad.

Easy peasy...
shove a small screwdriver into the one of the long sidespry the back off. Make sure the back (wired side of the switch) is pointing up. There's a little hollow pin on a spring that you might lose if you don't. Once you get it open it's very obvious how they work.
Pull the white nylon slider out. The contacts will be green and dirty. Scrape both sets of contacts with a small screwdriver until they're all nice and coppery and shiny again. When you put the slider back in make sure you seat it on the pin properly before pushing the back on. And it wouldn't hurt to hose things down with WD-40 prior to reassembly.
While you have the switches off the bike doubele check the soldering - it gets weak with age and you mght want to resolder thewires if things look shady.
If it's still sticky there may be dirt in the upper body of the switch. You can pop that off by shoving a small screwdriver up each side(do both sides at once) to break the black piece clear of it's pivots. From going in the back, you're now aware of the springy pin so just make sure you don't lose those tiny bits and again make sure the pin and the hole in the slider are properly aligned when you put the black part back on.
Do the hazard flasher switch first, even though it isn't hard you might as well practice on the cheaper one first. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Grips. Download Google Toolbar. It has spell check and underlines any spelling errors. Click on the misspelled word and it will give the correct spelling. This will take a little frustration from your life!

Never tried to take apart those switches. Can't hurt to try if they don't work. Took apart the left handle bar switch. That was crazy. _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT

We have the same year K-RS.
Have you checked fuses? Heated grips are on the same ciruit as the temp and gas gauges. (fuse #1 or 2- can't remember which)
Good luck.

I agree with The Flying Duck. I took mine apart recently. Piece of cake. I sprayed with WD40 and cleaned up the contacts. I added a little dielectric grease as long as I was in there.

Fuse 1 is gauges, heated grips and brake/tail lights.
Fuse 2 is parking lights.
If your fuel and temp gauges fo out while riding, do not pull over and just pop another fuse in, and then another. I've heard that can cause your heated grip wiring to melt short and maybe start a fire. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Switches seem a weak point on the K's, my RS had dodgy switches and stripped & cleaned them, when i got the LT the grips and ABS switches were dodgy so i cleaned them, 3 months later had to do them again!!!
It is an easy repair to do, as a Duck said dont loose the hollow pin and check the soldered connections to the leads.
