The LT is stripped bare and ready for some much needed R&R. The only thing left on the frame is the rear suspension and the engine! I want to replace the O2 sensor, but I need the p/n.
Is there a 'universal' sensor I can splice in?
For anyone who's done the manual fan switch kludge; any special way to do it (relay), or just wire a HD switch to the fan motor?
What is the preffered coolant? I always use GO5 and distilled water in all my cars with some Redline Water Wetter, and my temp gauge needles have never visited past the 1/2 mark in the summer. Comments?
I'm really hesitant about the clutch shaft and the final drive shaft spline lude issue, since I really don't feel like pulling the tranny out. Are there any indicators that can tell me if the service has or hasn't been one recently? |

yes there is, www.lambdapower.co.uk sells a sensor for about 70 GBP (good conv. rate at the moment). i got one of them a little while ago (DO NOT take the "universal sensor"!!!! it is not the right one!

According to the measurements you quoted me the first time, the budget
universal sensor would have fitted those specs. The budget universal sensor
will *not* replace 0258986506.
What is making you think the budget universal sensor is not working?
0258986506 is a "universal" type sensor, but is a specific type for that
application. We can supply that part for about £50
0258003251 is a discontinued part no longer made, but we can make this part
up for you. Price I am not sure about; it will be about 63.99GBP. (normally
79.99 but I would be willing to discount you if that budget universal is no
good for you)
'Conductor number' is simply the number of wires on the lambda sensor. in
this case, 4.

Why do you want to replace the O2 snesor?
The BMW p/n is 11781464492.

If you have the switch ground the blue/yellow wire on the factory fan relay that should do the trick.
On mine, I added another circuit with a 4ohm load resistor so the fan runs at partial speed.

Any thing safe for aluminum engines (just about all coolants these days) should be fine.

Tranny input: Aside from sticky downshifting (which you can't really test in the shop) there are no indicators that I know of. Given where you're at, I'd recommend doing it anyhow unless you have maintenance records from the PO.
Drive shaft: Never heard of those failing on our bikes but makes sense to do it while you have things apart. Phasing:

Does your fan ever come on in the summer? Heck, mine will come on in winter city riding. (40s temps with stop-n-go traffic)
