than normal...
i know most motos have smooth deceleration when easing off the throttle...
i know that the bugeye motobrick has never experienced the smooth deceleration as other motos because of some kinda built in something that immediately slows down the engine...
so... recently... when i ever so slightly ease off the throttle the engine wants to slow down faster than ever... causing deceleration to be jerky... sometimes causing m o to slap my helmet with hers... and when easing back on the throttle its jerky too...
no surging... just jerky getting off... just jerky getting on...
what you old geezers think... throttle body sync...

Sounds like drivetrain drag.

Would drivetrain drag be evident rotating the rear wheel in neutral on the centerstand? It would have to be significant to cause that effect. _________________ Jim

Use the clutch instead.
TPS?
Throttle cable issues?
Dragging brake?
Ship the bike to me and I'll take it for a test ride. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

let me add to this... just thought about it when going through drive train drag in my immense brain...
it seems as if i picked up a tiny bit of free play in the throttle... what happens is when im easing off the throttle i have a bit of of rotation until the engine reacts... same thing when getting back on the throttle...
i took the assembly apart on the handlebar... the cable and linkage are solid... no free play in the cable or linkage... seems like its on the engine side of the deal... not the drive train...
hungry dungee 1.5 tech days... i hope not...

You might try hosing down the springs on the sides of the TBs with some WD-40.
You probably already know: Don't put anyhting inside the cables because it degrades the lining. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Flying Duck mentioned TPS. Let me go back to my 85K100RT. I have had the switch apart 15 yrs ago to see what was inside and if my memory is correct, it only had a breaker point type switch inside, no potentiometer like the newer K bikes? Anyway, if I disconnect the switch, the bike would coasts easily. When hooked up, it acts like a jake brake. Somewhere I was told, the switch shuts off the injectors on decel?
It might be interesting to disconnect the TPS and see what happens. Worse that could happen is it runs bad without a tps and could set a code. |
