I hope your friend will be able to overcome his illness. You have a very big heart.

No honey, his prognosis is very poor.
At this point I hope his pain is controlled and his passing gives him and his family peace when it comes. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

In situations like this I always think of the sentiments in this old Alan Parsons song - http://www.oldielyrics.com/lyrics/the_alan_parsons_project/old_and_wise.html ... (it always makes me smile & cry at the same time)
Sounds really trite, but the best I can think around this sort of helplessness is that you can but do what you alone can do for someone - remember them ... and in reflecting on them & their special ways, you can't avoid honouring their lives in the way you react to the memories they left.
(Yep, in a contemplative mood. About 2 months ago had my own "fright" - multiple pulmonary embolisms, both lungs, no known cause, luckily no cardiac follow-on. Still on the warfarin, at least 6mths, as per usual. Not the best at still under 40... Makes me remember why it's worth the risk to ride, sometimes you've just got to get on with appreciating the world today cause tomorrow is never guaranteed.)
Take care everyone.

Thank you for your post max.
I'm a nurse, so I had to reply about the above.
Please research the following "incidence of occult cancer in patients with acute pulmonary embolism"
http://www.chestjournal.org/content/103/3/816.full.pdf
Please follow up with your doctor with this information, it could save your life.
KEEP Riding with joy,

Thanks Gwen ... Found more papers on this too. Doctor here hadn't heard of it (was going to take the AMA papers to the local GPs meeting for their monthly meet-&-greet!) so it's still "filtering down", it seems. Had the tests for blood-markers for the majority, nothing but a bit of liver imbalance found (likely the anticoagulant, monitoring now) ... but definitely worth the check given the ~10% occurance rate quoted.
Appreciate the heads up, good luck with all the forks etc... Pet project here is ramping up for an electric conversion when the engine has problems - guessing in next 2-5yrs, probably high-capacity lithium batts will be ready when I get around to moving on it!
Cheers, thanks again.

I met another K11 rider on this trip.
He posts as Solo Gato on ADV.
Here he is with his sweet white bike.
He's tall like Abreeze and I told him Audi might be able to give him some pointers.
