Has anyone removed the Right hand fairing panal on a late K1100RS. I did it on mine and now have a part left over. It is a strange looking lump of rubber. Which I assume is a spacer of some kind. It fell out when I removed the panel. I can not see it in the workshop manual any ideas where it should go back

There are some of those on each side. Check out the online service manual, it should be in there. Its under the Super Sticky resources.

That rubber piece you have left over baffles more people on where it goes than any other bit on the bike. There is a round barrel section to it and that section slides into the recess for the one of the screws/bolts that hold the crank case cover on. It goes in the aft recess on the top. There was a picture posted on this forum a while back that showed where it goes.

Cheers,
Merle

I'll post a pic of how it fits on the bike when I get home tomorrow.

FWIW You don't really need it. *shrug*
