my spedo works great but my odometer does not move. two part question.
1st. what runs the odometer ? sencer ? spedo sencer in final Drirve ? or is the odometer just stuck and how can I fix that.

2nd. would that have anything to do about what keeps my ABS lights flashing. they flash and hazard light stays on I push my ABS button It stops flashing but both lights stays lit. I think the batts the coulprit but I hate to waste the money right now if the odometer is sill going to keep the abs and hazard light on at least it gets me to work and back thought of putting black tape over the bright little red lights and forgetting about it Laughing atleast it would not glare on my face shield at night

Setting aside the odometer question, have you tried turning off the ignition and restarting after driving for a while? I have a nearly new gel battery and sometimes my abs lights won't go out the first time the bike runs after sitting a few days. If the lights go out after restart you have I think proven battery or charging as the fault. If it doesn't, you haven't eliminated anything yet.

I believe your problem is the battery. You'll have to deal with the flashing lights, or cover them with black tape until you replace the battery.

The odometer gets its signal from the sensor on the final drive. Most often the issues come about when the connector behind the right sight cover gets corroded, the connectors behind the breadbox or the sensor itself got dirty or quit. You can clean the connectors and test the resistance of the sensor from the connector behind the right cover. You can test it by keeping a soldering iron or a wall plug transformen close to the sensor, this should get you a signal. There are a few other things, but you might want to look here at the above first. Cheers, Rene.

The speedo and odometer are separate components. The signal from the sensor gets split off once it enters the cluster.

If the speedo is working then it's the odometer. It could be the printed circuit board but usually it's either the motor has quit or the little colorful plastic gears that drive it have lost some teeth.

The odometer unit can be replaced as a standalone part. If you like throwing money at your bike, the part number for the odomater is 62112305175 and it costs about $100.

While you're in there, you might want to consider calibrating your speedometer:

If you want to upgrade the cluster lighting to LEDs, I have some kits for sale at this page:
