Has anyone put a trailer hitch on a K1100 and towed a trailer?

Moon - yes - I have - along with a number of other people.

I've pulled this 2001 Uni-go more than 35,000 miles.

I just pulled this late 60's/early 70's homemade trailer more than 7,000 miles.

Here's a Wing with a new Ion trailer - very nice setup! Although the Ion has a very long tongue...

Geez, Jim, how much beer do you need? You do know that you can buy it along the way, right?

Actually, I don't drink anymore. But if I did, that trailer would not hold enough to last me 7,000 miles. On the other hand if I was drinking, I probably wouldn't ride 7,000 miles...

I've got the parts for the Uni-go, hope to get it put together this week. The black trailer is very cool, but it really needs an aluminum frame and independent suspension. It sure does hold a lot!!!

And what hitch assembly did you use?

Moon - for the first five or so years I used the hitch that came with the trailer. It wasn't made right, and I had to have it altered slightly to get it on the bike.

I then bought a couple more - one of which is on the bike right now. I never installed one of them. These are all frame hitches that wrap around the bike - soon to be replaced with a single sided hitch.

I have two hitches I can sell right now, and I'll have another for sale as soon as I install the single side hitch.

I have been pulling a camper trailer with my K11LT for a few years now. Before that I pulled it with a K12RS and before that I pulled it with a K100. I am currently pulling a Time out Camper and I am using an old Renyolds hitch. Last year I pulled a LeisureLite Camper from NJ to WY for the nationals. The only trouble I have has pulling the campers is if I do not load them right I did get a high speed (85mmph+) wobbble. Once I got it loaded right there was no problems. Did go thru a set of brakes faster then I would have thought possible but it was loaded heavy. I am planning on towing the Time out camper to the finger lake rally. If I dont use the camper I have a clam shell trailer which is really light and can hold all me camping equipment. Wife and I are bringing the kids with us so it means 2 tents and 4 sleeping bags and 4 thurmorests. That is too much to load on the bikes.

Geeze Jim, haven't you mounted that beautiful truck bed liner sprayed
Reynolds yet???

Glad to see I'm not the only procrastinator...

BTW, I've yet to put the hitch that I bought on my Suz Burgman either...

Kent - I had to cut the that beautiful truck bed liner off all the mating surfaces and paint them...

Yeah, I've been putting it off - but I hope to have it installed soon...

I think that Jim may have one or two for sale. Check the for sale section and or send him a pm.
