|
|
Looking at getting one of these, to use on my RS, as I'm not happy with my present mounting arrangements.
http://www.givi.it/News-en/S850---GPS-Universal-holder
At present, I have my GPS mounted using the spare hole in the clutch lever mount. Trouble is, I get too much buffeting, which doesn't help my knackered neck
Tank bags are out - can't stand them.
So... Anyone used one on an RS?
Cheers! _________________ Fr Jack

be interested to know how this works out for you. It would be an ideal solution for me too I think as I use my pda/phone as a sat nav. I keep it in the jacket pocket and use earphones but sometimes it'd be nice to see it too. Wondering how it would fit onto the KLT bars though... _________________ Cheers, Steve H _______________________________________

Nice solution, but Givi's web site lacks details. _________________ 2000 R1100RT

I know this is an old thread but I was searching for info on a simple sat nav mount to use from time to time and this came up. I am considering the Givi S950 at around £40 delivered in the UK for a '93 K1100 RS.
anybody have any thoughts on these? _________________ 1993 K1100RS 65,000 miles |

Hi Guys....
I got the GIVI "bag" as shown, BUT have to say I dont like it. The securement is weak, and its difficult to position it anywhere that you can glance at it. Quality of construction is there, bit in all, I'm going with a more rigid permanent mount like those in the Whitehorse catalog.. the GIVI solution was/is disappointing.

Looking at it I am wondering where you will have room on your handlebars to mount something that wide? I have a 93 RS and there is no way I could fit that on my bars. _________________ 1997 K1100LT

Yeah the Givi solution was never going to work in hindsight. I would settle for a map bag for the tank although in the mean time I have been for putting the Tom Tom in a plastic bag and duck taping it to the rev counter when I need it which is only ever the last mile or two of a journey anyway.
The bracket spanning the fairing seems like a bit of overkill for me to be honest as I don't use the nav that often with the bike, it really is only the last few miles and then only if I am going somewhere new.
Looking at it the other way round I guess the problem with there being no where to mount a sat nav on a 93 K1100 RS is that the sat nav is too big and not that the bike is at fault.
Can anyone recommend a tank bag with map reader / sat nav clear screen on the top which works on the K? Aluminium tanks seriously limit the choice. I just want something that is small, cheap and will hold the nav on the tank where I can glance at it. _________________ 1993 K1100RS 65,000 miles |
