Thought you guys might like to see what our elk camp looks like and the country we run around in.
Here we are setting up.
We camp on private land in the middle of forest service land.
Finished product.
Lightning had stuck a tree sometime before we got there. That hunk of wood almost made it to camp and the tree was about 70 yards away.
A couple of camp pets.
Obligatory food shot. Red and yellow peppers to go with fried Kokanee.
Some of the country we chase elk around in.
Pretty steep. I lost 5 pounds this week.
Couple of forest fires nearby. One so close we could hear it sometimes. Made it a little smokey some days, depending on the wind direction.
The boys heading down a ridge towards a bugling elk. It took it's cows and moved down to the bottom and was half way up the other side in about 5 minutes!
The last day up there we got between a 6 point bull and his cows and called him in, twice, to about 15 or 20 yards. He stood there roaring at us offering no shot. Story of our lives since we gave up rifles for bows but it's alot more fun! Down this ridge is where it happened.
Camp archery practice got interesting. A William Tell I believe. From 40 yards.
Campfire with adult beverages.
That's all for now. Hope I didn't bore you too much. Another year of store bought meat. _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT

Looks like a lot more fun than sitting on a tree stand 8 hours a day waiting for a deer to walk by as done in the midwest. _________________ '93 K1100LT

I could see why you would lose pounds on that countryside.
It would take all of about 8 hours walking un/down those hills to kill my left ankle.
I have troubles on a hilly golf course. _________________ Ride safe.

Sure do, I even have one in my garage, but that don't get you everywhere. Besides, you can't hit your ball very well if your 'uhummm' is still in the seat. _________________ Ride safe.

No Gui, the pictures of the deer are female mule deer which can't resist the salted peanut shells we leave on the ground. She's safe. We have deer closer to home to eat. This is what we got close to but could not shoot because of no clear shot.
Johnny, Trudy just got back from Costco. No elk. I would have saved a nice big roast for you to smoke. _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT
