Discovered this the other day. If host a KML file of your GPS track somewhere on the Internet then you can have it displayed on Google maps.
Here's an example of my ride with Johnny the other day. Put this url in the Google Maps search box:
http://smithduck3.home.comcast.net/~smithduck3/gpxgoogle/091108palomar1000pts
Then check the boxes to turn off Waypoints and Points.
If your GPS tracks are stored in another format then you can use the freeware program GPS Babel GUI to convert them to KML.
