Just for info for those of you who need valve adjustments in Michigan. I stripped my LT down to nothing and took it to Canton BMW. I had already verified all the valves and found one very tight one and two loose ones. For $140, the mechanic re checked all the valves and put in three new shims. Since I thought the value was so reasonable, I asked him to lube the two rear splines also since he had the bike. The charge was $350. Plus he checked out the bike since I had it torn down and found it to be in good condition.
I had planned on doing that myself this winter but now I had the immediate time to install plugs, get it running and sync the throttle bodies. It runs great and I'm ready for new paint and it's only January!

Hi, Gary,
The prices, from a dealership, sound reasonable. I hope the mechanic used Honda Moly 60 Paste or Guard Dog Moly instead of the newest overpriced crap that BMW is pushing for spline lubes. I would ask him because, were it me, I would want to know what was used.

Those are very reasonable charges, if my local dealer would charge that, he'd see more of my business.

My spline lube 5 years ago was $600+, I shudder to think of what it would be now....

That's more of an independent mechanic price than a dealer. My local BMW dealer quoted me 700+ over 4 years ago.

Like Phil said, check what lube was used and write down the date.

If the work is good, sounds like you have yourself a winning mechanic there!
