I took the engine insulation out of the bike last fall when I had the bike apart to take the radiator out.
Now I finally have everything fixed, and I am to installation of the engine (insulation) (vent Ducting) it seems to be foam that I think creates the duct to drive the heat out the side vents.
I know I should have taken a picture of it.....but I didnt', and now I can't find a picture of how that goes in. I do have things labelled left and right.
Does anyone know of a picture of this that I could look at? Doesn't seem to be in the Clymer or the Shop Manual?
Thanks

RS or LT?
Hint: It's helps us help you if you put the year and model in your signature.
Oops - just noticed it's in the title.
It goes just behind the vents in the fairing lowers. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Ken, your timing is......................
I just put all of mine back together 2wks ago. Had I known I would have taken some pics for you.
Most of is sets just forward of the knee panels since there isn't much more room before you get to the vents.
It only fits one way, like a puzzle. Keep plugging away at it, you'll figure it out.
The left side ones(with the tb intake hose serations) fit at the #3 cyl location behind the throttle cable connection.
The right side ones fit behind(rearward) the airbox intake tube. _________________ Ride safe.

Thanks Scott. that number 3 cylinder comment may be the one that is the key to me figuring it out.
11:00 AM 60 degrees, the sun shining brightly. An hour of work and hopefully we will be on the first ride after a clutch, new main fairing bracket, and the ducting installed after a radiator late last summer.
I can't wait for a reason to take a trip.
Ken

Ken, #'s 1,2 &3 all go at the #3 cyl location. Both sides of the fuel rail, and fuel lines.
#2 slips in on top of the air box, under the frame rails. There is a groove along the back edge of a plastic plate that this piece slides into for a guide.
#5 also fits on top of the airbox. It fits infront of the long edge of #2.
#4 fits on the right side behind the airbox intake scoop and the plastic knee panel.
It all is supposed to make an air barrier so that the radiator air is directed out the side vents. _________________ Ride safe.

If this isn't a reason, I don't know what is. 40 degrees and cloudy is good enough for me. _________________ Doug

got the bike all the way back together yesterday and went for a ride...got home after dark.......to summarize.
New Clutch, New spline lube, New rear main seal.
Got busy and hired this part done, because I just wasn't getting to it.
New Main fairing bracket, turned out the old one had been welded. New LED in instrument cluster and gauges.
The bike is sooo much smoother shifting than it was last year, the bracket replace just seems to make the bike feel more solid, and certainly got rid of a rattle.
Thank you all for your help. _________________ Ken in Denver |

After reading this thread, I took a look at the rubber baffle on the left side. Sure enough, it was all catywompus.
After reading the post about it 's placement at the 3rd cylinder(sp) intake. I got it in there correctly.
Thanks for the help. It really cooled things down!
