Hi all,
I couldn't help myself and posted a couple items before getting over here to the fire to warm up and mingle. Laughing

My name is Todd, I am 42 and I reside in Charlotte, NC, close enough to the Blue Ridge Mountains, the second-best riding area in the US. I've had bikes since before my first car, and I currently have a couple of my own - one for sporty riding up in those mountains and one for sport-touring and local duty, but both for leaning and grinning!
In addition to riding, I do enjoy wrenching on the bikes. However my Honda's don't give me much opportunity for that! More time for riding I guess!

A good friend of mine has trusted me with her 1996 K1100RS for some winter maintenance. She has a list of items that the shop gave her that they thought it needed. I will be pinging your collective experience here to decide just what it does and doesn't need. And I will make use of the search function to get up to speed on this bike.
I will be doing all the easy stuff too though - fluids, filters, fork oil, lubing any cables, and general TLC items.

I'll anticipate the call for pics and tell you that I hope to get to that soon. Although the bike is stock and predictable, it did get a very nice two-tone paint job recently - kind of a metallic green and silver combo. Very sharp and they look like colors BMW might have chosen for stock colors.

I have already done a bit of poking around and can see that I will like it here. I also see some very good specific and technical info which I appreciate!

So Cheers!

Heya Todd, welcome to the all-inclusive site for motobricks.

Funny, wife and I are planning a NC move. How far away are you from the Ocean? Any pics of your bike?

Thanks! NC is a very wide state; over 6 hrs from end to end! Charlotte is closer to the mountains than the ocean. Myrtle Beach & Charleston are about 3.5-4 hrs SE. Wilmington NC and Savannah more like 4+.
I think you will like the climate, I moved here from Buffalo! It is a bit hot at first in summer but you get used to it and the outdoor season lasts longer. Falls are long and gorgeous. Winter typically throws you several warm weekends which allow you to get a ride in.
I'll work on the pics...

OTG,

Where in NC are you thinking about? We're about half way between Fayettenam and Raliegh.

Not quite sure. I guess the place we find that is closest to the ocean with 1/2+ acre lot, 4br, 2.5bath, 2 car attached garage, safe neighborhood with a decent school district for 200-220k. I really don't want to be more than 30min drive from the water. I would rather drive long to go offroading than to the ocean. It's that important to us.

I do am a IV home care RN so can work anywhere. We are researching this year for an early next year move/job. Will rent for 6-8months to scope out our final area. A house is like a marriage to us, it's not something we plan on upgrading or changing.
