It was kind of a nice day on Saturday so I decided to take the long way up Hood Canal to the cabin. I haven't ridden aside from running errands lately so it was nice to get out riding for a couple hundred miles.

Tacoma Narrows:

Olympic Mountains in background:

A pair of old bridges spanning The Hamma Hamma River:

Another old bridge:

Only a mile away now:

I made it!

All tucked away for the night:

I got this soft cooler free with a 12 pack of Heineken in China. Only this weekend did I realize how perfectly it fits in a city case:

Sun setting behind a cloud:

Time to start a fire:

I took the ferry home on Sunday. It always cracks me up how differently moms and dads respond when their little ones want to take a look at your bike. Dads generally don't care but when this 4 year old boy on the ferry wanted to take a look at my bike his mom yanked him away. Motorcycles are evil, you know.Laughing

Thanks Duck for the pictures. My bike is all tore apart. I see bikes out everywhere. I figured Feb would be a good month to work on it because the last 2 years we had about 5 feet of the white ch!t on the ground. This year NO SNOW and temps in the 40's! It's all at Ted's house. Laughing Gots to get this thing back together today. Did all the radiator hoses and was going to do the fuel lines but it looks like you have to remove the engine to get at the 2 that feed the rail. Mad

Those go to the fuel pressure regulator behind the TBs. Remove the air filter and take out the two bolts that hold the bottom of the air box to the engine. Then remove the bottom of the air box and you have access. Not that much work really.

It's not that hard Scott. Even the bottom of my airbox didn't have any screws fastening it down, only resting on rubber pads.

Very Happy

G'Morning Duck ....

Nice "ride pics", thanks for the tour.... That bridge over the Quilcene is EXACTLY the same 1930's CCC design as the bridge here in Bristol,NH over the Pemigawassett River. We had two just like it but just recently had to remove one and later the other after the last river surge took the river level up 33 feet and the ice-chunks beat the poor bridge undersides and riveted structure to pieces. Nice to see the reminder, it brought back many pleasant memories.

Best regards............// Ernie-NH

Interesting. EXACTLY is probably the right word. The CCC did quite a lot of things on The Olympic Peninsula back then so I wouldn't be surprised.

Hi, Drake,
The pictures bring back pleasant memories of Hungry Dungee. I can hardly wait for Hungry Dungee II.

Crap. I totally forgot about those when I rode home in early January. Embarassed

City bags are awesome. Especially since they top load.

They did cause me one problem though. When I had the RS in CA with city bags this winter I got used to not worrying about them when lanesplitting. On my way home with full luggage, when I was at a stop light in SF I came to a VERY narrow gap between a stopped truck and car. I stopped and duck walked it through the gap and once the mirrors had cleared I started to go. BAM!!! and I was stopped. Then the bike came free. Looked back to see my left system case lying on the ground with it's lock broken off. Laughing The truck's bumper had taken it off.

Fortunately, I didn't go down and the set of bags for that bike is done in Line-X truck bed liner which protected it so all I had to do was rivet the lock back on.
