Good morning, everyone. Gwen (Shoganai) urged me to join... even though I'm a mere K100RT owner. Had a K75 before that, and am a firm lover of the brick. Unless it's a Ural, I doubt I'll ever own another type of motorcycle again, if I have my way.
Old ride:
I also get around on ADV as "Smithy" but saw you had someone by that name here already... so anyway, here I am. |

Yup, '85. Push-button fuel cap, aftermarket supertrapp and fox shock, Sargent seat. It's a beautiful running machine.
However it came to me (super cheap) with terrible steering head bearings, and it's been in Gwen's shop for a couple weeks now. I'd have it back, but there's 3 feet of snow here, and no chance of a safe transport/parking situation for a little while.
Soon, though, it will be back home and flying like the wind. I love this bike. |

Speaking of push button fuel caps, do you know if the early push buttin ones will fit the K1100? I am sick of having to use the key to open it and we don't have a theft problem here anyway. _________________ K1100RS '97

Hello & Welcome Christopher,
I had a K75S, did 68,000m on it, & I loved it.
Had a couple of BM Boxers (& A few russian ones aswell ! )
I now have the K1100LT ,It doesn't seem as sweet as the 75 but I like all the extras & its larger feel.
Your 75 certainly had a few unusual extras ! & that seat was a work of art ! _________________ "A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing." |

The K75 seat was a Corbin, and was most comfy. I must shamefully admit, I killed that bike in a run-off in Texas driving home from CA just before Christmas. Besides the seat, I left the side-panels off, it had a staintune muffler and performance works shock, those unobtanium fog light mounts, and a "top of the line" aluminium cargo rack. I'm trying to source another, since I never saw the wrecked bike after I fell, being strapped to the backboard and all... and they totalled it out on me.
And yes, Gwen invited me to Hungry Mother. I think I'm in, but my schedule is never firm more than a couple months in advance... so I'm definately interested, and hoping nothing gets in the way. It happens to be my birthday weekend, so I have the hall pass secured. Just want to make sure work doesn't get in the way. |

It's my birthday weekend as well, small world! I can't think of a better present to myself than to be around fellow K11OG'ers in the beautiful mountains! _________________ Steve

The gasket on the 1985 fuel cap is different then the K11 gas cap gasket. you may need to use the older style gasket. I am not sure what the difference is but be sure to check which you need. Dont want a wet lap after you fill up on a hot day and dont water getting in if the bike is left out in the rain. _________________ Ron
