190hp. 419 pounds wet. One of the coolest bikes I'll never own...
Look out World Superbike, it's the return of the roundel.

There are plenty of Beemers without shaft drive. F650, F800, etc....
I don't think BMW will be winning races with a shaft drive bike. I'm not an expert on the motorcycle physics but I do know that a paralever final drive weighs quite a bit more than a chain and a pair of sprockets.
It's nice to see them going head to head with the Japs. I hope they smoke some Japanese butt with this bike. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Duck is correct, they dumped the shaft drive and went with a more traditional telescopic front suspension, both to save weight.
The exrta tubes aft of the inverted forks are the gas reservoir for the Ohlins fork tubes. Very neat |

Parked next to one (a demo?) at the dealer when getting a part today. Man, it sure is small (and light ) compared to a K1100RS. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

There appears to be a small rod that goes into what may be the remote reservoir for the forks. At the top of the rod is some red unit. Perhaps this is part of the electronic suspension control?
BMW raced the S1000RR in WSBK last year. Best finish was 5th. Typically finished 10th (at best). Their riders were Troy Corser and Ruben Xaus. I'm not sure if there's a change in riders this year, but I'm virtually certain Corser will be riding one again this year. _________________ M N B
