Fairing bracket is broken on a 97 K1100. Anyone have one of these? It is going to cost a fortune to rebuild it. Broken at every pt of attachement.
Thanks

Is the fortune it's going to cost to rebuild it more than the fortune a new one will cost? If so, buy a new one. If you're getting it rebuilt, it can't just be welded up, it's going to need bracing, too.
Keep an eye out at the parts yards. I think Motobins sells used parts. Check the parts yards here in the States, too. _________________ Jim

You could also contact Sherwoods BMW and Motorworks in the UK.
Both have websites.

Found this email from when I was looking for one:
Hi,
I have one $100, shipping to NH, $11 via UPS.
Thank you for checking.

That was in 2008. Ended up having mine welded. _________________ Jim

Hi, Malcolm,
The last time I looked, Motorworks would not ship to the USA. MotoBins will, however. _________________ Ride Safe,

$250 for the bracket new. I guess I should have quit riding it when it was cracked rather than waiting for time to fix it..
oh well...it is as it is.
I will wait until Monday or Tuesday to see if any of the junkyards respond. Thanks all. _________________ Ken in Denver |

I had mine welded 2x. Weak point of the bike, imo. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

I know I have said this every time the bracket comes up but I have a theory that the cap screws that secure it to the frame may get loose causing vibration and bracket failure. They are easy to inspect without removing anything. _________________ Jim

Either that or your treating a K1100LT like a dual sport. _________________ 93 LT (x2)
