This is what happens when you run into a truck:

Picked this parts bike up yesterday. A 24k 1993 K1100RS. Was in an accident EONS ago and has been sitting ever since. All of the stuff in the fuel tank was rusty like the vibration ring nuts, fuel level sender, etc... and there was lots of crud floating around in there. Big glops of crap in the fuel rail too. The injectors were obviously stuck too. All of the external hardware is very rusty.

It was hot out today but I spent most of the day in the sun working on getting it running so I could get it up the hill to my basement bike morgue for disassembly.

I replaced:

Fuel rail - full of crud
Fuel injectors - all stuck closed or clogged
Fuel pump - toast
Fuel filter - totally clogged with Dog knows what

Emptied the tank and cleaned a bit of the crud out of it.

Oh, and the dipstick who sold it to me got the tank off by cutting the fuel lines so I had to replace the fun to replace one to the fuel pressure regulator.

At a little before six it finally started right up. A little smoky from it's long slumber but running pretty decently.

Anybody need any parts? Wink

No, but I do have one that I need to test. Sometime over the next few days I need to fix the antenna on my LT. Plan to test it then when I have the windscreen assembly removed. I suppose I could bench test it but trying it on my bike is probably easier and more likely to happen sooner.

Silver. Haven't gotten a chance to clean that yet and haven't inspected it closely but it might come out OK. Need to hit it with some wheel cleaner to really know. I'll keep you posted.

I'm not sure about the ABS brain. I have to get my LT rideable (fork seal) in order to test it as the parts bike has a bunch of stuff taken off and isn't roadworthy.

Sure, later, when it's not a million degrees outside.

I tested the motor I have this morning. It works great. I'll PM you.

sounds good! i do still want to find a real bmw replacement for that thumb screw. even though it works again, it definitely got gnarled up when i took it out.

Here it is with the matching left bar end. They could use a coat of paint. $47 shipped for the pair:

Would it have the Radiator Trim Panel by any chance? The panel that sits in front of the radiator.
