Up for sale is my near pristine 1996 K1100RS Special Edition in the classic black and silver color scheme and the Marzocchi forks. Own one the last good ones from BMW!!!! It has 31K miles which most Kbike owners know- is a drop in the bucket on these near bullet proof machines. I bought it from a 67 year young gentleman and he had purchased it when he was 57 and didn’t ride it all that much. It has been well maintained and is set up and ready to ride and go the distance. I also have a host of aftermarket accessories included with the sale. These are: aeroflow windshield ($324.95 new), Reynolds Rack AND BACKREST in excellent shape (rack worth $250 alone in rough condition- these are almost unobtainable most especially with a back rest), Bar backs from Twisted Throttle (German made- can’t remember maker (SWmotech?)- $119), Bobs ‘Wrist Rest’ cruise control (97.95), line in for fuel cell and fuel cell pump ($?), extra handlebar pad ($13.95-thought I’d need with the bar backs but didn’t), Clymer and BMW maintenance manuals ($100), Corbin dual canyon saddle WITH MOTOSPORT stripes-hard to find?( $250 aftermarket value), auxiliary light brackets ($?){piaa lights shown are not included}, brand new BMW tank bag –used once! ($270), new bmw sealed style battery, Michelin Pilot Road 2 (dual compound) tires [one year old and approx ¼ worn?]. The only cosmetic wear item worth pointing out is that the previous owner did the classic driveway drop over and touch up painted the right side fairing and mirror but you’d never know it unless it’s pointed out to you. Other than that this might be one for a collector to buy and leave in his stall. On the other hand it’s ready for its next owner to ride the pants off it for many a year. Asking price is $7200 which I think is fair considering all the aftermarket accessories that are with it that you won’t have to buy or collect (motorsport seat and rack and backrest are impossible to find-all accessories total over $1400). I will email photos if necessary. CASH or certified funds ONLY. I will help you with delivery or travel if/as necessary (USA only). email me for photos if you'd like to--i have a lot of them and can't figure out how to insert them! Well opinions are one thing, value is another, asking price yet another, selling price yet another, and options/upgrades even still yet another.

feel free to check the kelly blue book retail values, etc. as well as other bikes listed for sale of this calibre and special edition.

Perhaps we can start another thread or opinion pole on the percieved value of a pristing 96K11RS SE Black/Silver? and perceived value of all accessories? seriously- let's not clog up or high jack my for sale thread for those that might be interested.....

Or was one of you actually making me an offer? Very Happy

WRONG. And I've sold three bikes in the part two years to prove it. Then again, I know how to mod and how to sell a bike.

That said, the asking price seem high given what low mile K1200RSs are going for these days.

It'd probably worth more with an LED kit though. Laughing

Scan the MOA Fleamarket -if you belong- and you will find newer K1200's with less miles for less $$.

As you say book value is one thing- potential buyer's perceived value is another. Good luck.

First - let's tone down the replies a bit please, this really isn't the place to get into a debate.

It is unfortunately (fortunately?) a real bike buyers market these days with the prices on used bikes really diving. My friend Molly's K75C is now down to $1,500 and still little interest.

If you really want to sell it put some real effort into it - create a page on some free web host with lots and lots of photos and make sure the photos look really good. Can't tell you how many people handicap the sale right out of the gate by taking pics in a dark garage. Clean the hell out of the bike for the photo shoot, make sure everything black is hit with some Vinylex so it gets a deep clean look without being shiny. Take a photo of all the maintenance records that go with the bike too. Advertise it on the MOA site, and mindful you will get the attention of scammers (easy to spot) use Craig's List, ADVRider and the IBMWR classifieds as well.

I put a "How to sell a BMW K-Bike" guide together some time ago and it could really use an update but it might help:

Sounds like a very nice bike, tonup. I got my '97 LTSEA in '01 for $9,750.00 with about 10,000 miles on the meter.

Good luck with your sale.

Hey - the guy is trying to sell his K11RS. Ted asked you nicely to tone it down. If you want to pick at each other - take it to PM.

All I said was he would most likely have better success parting some of the aftermarket out and selling the bike close to stock and I get attacked by people who have been members here less than 4 months.

Why my posts got deleted is beyond me.

I hope I'm not the only one who doesn't get it.

As to price and value, everyone knows the market determines hat a thing will sell for. But I would never fault someone for starting high. I've often been amazed to get my asking price or advertised something and later realized I could have sold ten at that price. In the end I would be amazed if this or any pre 1200 K bike sells for over $4500.

If you do decide to sell the accessories separately, I'd like the spare handlebar pad (which I do need for my bar backs).

Cheers,

This bike is SOLD.
Naysayers (who advised it would sell below blue book) would have left a considerable sum of money on the table!
Will create a seperate posting with a few accessories that are left from the sale.
