Is away. Cool

First, tear out everything and mark out new planting bed.

Next Google how to lay a wall foundation.

Drive to the mountains and hand pick some Earth bones.

Place largest stone in place.

Google how mix and work mortar. Note the stone walkway I laid.

Build wall.

Stone boarder laid in place

I made a sifting frame out of 1-1/2 PVC pipe and steel expanded metal. That way I could clean the soil of LOTS of rocks, and mix old mulch and heavy clay based soil together. This allowed me to transfer excess dirt from the existing beds and make it better for growing things in.

Go buy some plants.

Test placements.

I also did the rock circle and plants in the foreground.

I should be able to finish planting tomorrow, then put down the mulch.

Steve doesn't know I'm doing this. Only that I'm 'work in the yard'.
He's on his way to Texas and won't be back until after this coming weekend.

So this will be a cool surprise when he rolls up home.

Hit a pothole and one of those will jump and take out a motorsicklist.

Does Steve not have access to the Internet where he is?

More like, hit a pothole and the leaf springs will SNAP!

Yes, but he doesn't lurk here.
Besides, he is slamming it to Texas.

NICE!

I wish I had the motivation, I look at my yard and usually walk over to the patio and have a cigar Smile

If she does a blue and white roundel, she'll have to plant an orange KTM, too...

WTF were you thinking in the first place? Hire someone to pave it all while you go riding.

If you REALLY cared about Steve, you would've gone riding with him.

We had different vaca plans this year.
I wanted to do HM and he wanted to go to an ADV event in TX.

I hope to talk him into this for 2011. Very Happy

Shogs, that's really starting to take shape. I see you had the forman on the job making shure you had things straight and square.

I never had the "vision" for landscaping. I could do the work, so long as someone else planned it out.

You are doing great, keep it up. See you in about a month.

Really looks nice, Gwen.
But will he notice when he gets home?

"Honey, notice anything different?"

Good work

Laughing He was a great grunt. He helped a lot with the heavy lifting and all the rock gathering.

Nah, that ones easy, you have a 95% chance it's a haircut, so if you hear "Honey, notice anything different?" just automatically say "sure, your hair looks awesome" and you'll probably be OK. Shogs is right the really horrifying words are "we need to talk" You may as well grab a suitcase out of the cupboard before you even bother replying.

Embarassed Oh knock off guys. Embarassed

Ok, it's all done. Very Happy

There was a little drama on my part after carfully meausuring the PVC for the sifter, I did this n00b mistake.

It was supposed to look like this.

On a side note; this is what the back yard looked like a year ago.

Today...

The patches should be filled in by fall.

Look, no finger prints.
