Just joined the K11OG and thought it proper to say "HI". I am an Old Fart and have been riding for over 30 years. Just recently bought a 1997 K1100-LT with a few problems and will most likely make this one my last motorcycle. I have gone over the complete bike making it pretty much the way I want it. You can look at the for-sale list and find the Radio, ABS components and top case. Now the cycle looks the way I want it. There are 2 things that bother me, though. 1) The "knocking noise" it makes near idle or when reving it slightly. I had a 96 K-LT many years ago and remember a very similar noise associated with it. I don't remember that noise on the several K100 BMWs I had .... but it has been many years since I owned those and maybe I just forgot. I will try a really good TB sync after I put a few miles and go through a few tanks of gas with some SeaFoam ( this cycle hasn't been ridden much in the last few years. 2) The other gripe I have is the rear shock seems very stiff. I have the preload set to the lowest setting and it still doesn't drop much more than 1/2 inch when I sit on it (I weigh 190). Maybe this cycle has a heavy duty spring. All in all, I am quite happy with it now. I stumbled onto this web site and think it has most of the information I need. So, I want to thank all of you in advance for sharing this information with me. I have spent some time on the IBMWR web site and found that very good as well. Glad to be here and I may have a few dumb questions soon.......

Right before the head gasket goes.

Just kidding. You can waste lots of time and money getting the timing gear straightened out but it ain't worth it. Ear plugs and higher RPMs are your friends.

And welcome to K11OG. Very Happy
