Hi All
My name is Bobby Muller and I'm in South Africa. I have a 97 K1100Lt and I've lost my left side pannier. I can't find a used one anywhere and I know that the older K100 touring boxes fit on my brackets but does the newer look K75 panniers fit as well?

Hi Bobby, what do you mean by 'newer look' ?
The cases for my 86' k75 fit my K1100, i would have expected all the k75 cases to be identical.

My K1100 comes with those nice colour coded boxes with the grey outer liner on the side but the K100's have the std black " touring boxes "

Bobby, your cases should be the same as everyone elses, only painted to match your bike.
My cases for my '95 are painted, the ones on my '97 are not. They will fit on either bike.
Find a plain one and have it painted. _________________ Ride safe.

There are three types of cases, you will want the Third Gen case. Here is something I wrote explaining the differences. All three generations will fit on the K75/K100/K11 bikes as the differences were in the years made and not the bikes they are fitted to - with the exception that some K11LTs came with the bag lids painted to match the bike. _________________

Either there were more generations or BMW used up random parts on occasion, I've had 3 sets of these and while the locks can be changed by the user, the handles and width are not interchangable are they?
1st set: Gen 1 in all respects except had Gen 3 rubbers and handle
2nd set: Gen 2 but with Gen 3 rubbers and Z mounting locks facing outwards
3rd set: Gen 3 but with low down roundels as Gen 1 and Z mounting locks face inwards.

No, and as I say the locks can have been changed but the size of the pannier, the actual mouldings for the roundel placement and the attachments for the handles can't be can they?
I can email you pics of the current set if you'd find it useful for your page? _________________ Bikes:

I believe the lids can be easily changed (matter of fact, the hinge is often the first thing to go), that might explain a lot of it. They are usually the first thing damaged in a go-over. _________________

Early and late inners and outers do not mix and match. Between Gen 1 and 2 yes, but neither will work with Gen 3.
The roundel is in the top rear corner on Gen 3 bags. The reflector (or "Touring" insert in some cases) is in the mid-height rear. On Gen 1/2 they're together about a quarter of the way down.
If you switch locks on the Gen 1 and Gen 2 bags then you also need to switch the little nub they mount to.
You guys forgot about city cases. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

City cases are AWESOME. Top loading and much better for lanesplitting. I've also discovered that they're the perfect height for transporting wine bottles - not sure if that is by design or coinky-dink. _________________ 93 LT (x2)
