Hi, I'm a newbie and have yet to purchase a K11. I am looking at a bike now and have a few questions:

My questions:

1) Initially thought it was the SE model, but these only came in black and silver, correct?

2) Seller says no accidents, but I'm a little skeptical because of the repaint of part of the bike to silver and there is no KS1100RS decal on the belly pan. The original paint code is 694, Mystic Red. Also there are scrapes on this bar (sorry I don't know the part name) that is on the left side of the bike that the Ohlins shock sits behind. It looks like it was layed down and the metal bar was ground down. Finally, the seller sent photos but none of the area where there would be evidence of the bike being down. One of the photos shows the right rear turn signal housing damaged where it attaches to the cover, but that could be a tip over.

3) The bike has 62K miles on it and he wants $4750, seems high, he initially had it priced at $5750. I'm not afraid of the milkes, or should I be? There are 10 bikes on Craigslist with lower miles and lower prices, but I would have to travel farther to look and buy. This bike is about 100 miles north of me. I'm in Seattle, WA and the seller lives south of Vancouver, BC.

I have not seen this bike in person, just trying to rule it out or in prior to making the road trip. Any advice is welcome. Thanks.

I'd avoid it just for the hassle of transferring titles between countries. Sometimes that goes OK, sometimes it's a nightmare. And from my experience with the WA DOL...

You're right that it should all be Mystic Red. Repainting a belly pan isn't all that uncommon since they get trashed being behind the front wheel (I had mine coated in truck bed liner.)and it's possible to scrape them while riding.

Not all of them have stickers. My 94 Mystic Red RS had no stickers.

Rear turn signals are exposed and can get busted up from things other than spills. Whether or not the end of the housing is scraped is the key to whether it's a result of the bike taking a nap or someone knocking it - be careful in the garage.

Thanks for the advice Flying Duck. I have purchased older collector cars in Canada and brought them back to the US, but never a motorcycle. In my opinion he wants too much money, I've seen K12's for what he wants. Let me know if know of a local one for sale.

I know. A guy came by a while with a nice 25k K1200RS that he got from South Sound for only $5k.

Keep an eye out in the for sale section here. Any decent K11s that come up on Craig's List I usually post here just in case anyone might be interested. If you find one locally and would like me to take a look with you I'd be happy to help you out - but it might cost you a beer or two.
