Just came back home after picking up a 1996 R1100RLT with 78k on it for $1500. The transmission has some issues but the rest of the bike is in great condition. I'll be doing the usual spline lube, input output shaft seal replacements and such. I'll post some pic hopefully tonight.
And no I am not getting rid of my K. That would be blasphemous. _________________ Rich

Sheesh, wasn't it just last year you got a K100 for $400??
Do these deals fall out of the sky or are you always looking??
Kinda jealous--but one money pit at a time is enough for me.
Good luck with the project.

I have to give credit to Steve for the K100 cause I wasn't looking. The R a friend sent me the lead on that one.
I do have to abide by one rule(wife) though.
"You can't buy another motorcycle until you sell one of the ones you have"
As for a money pit. Luckily I haven't had one yet that I did not make a profit on, knock on wood and I am still operating in the black.
I don't count my wrenching time on the bikes into this as this is therapy and a lot cheaper than a psychiatrist. _________________ Rich

Hey Rich, got any pics? What's an RLT? As opposed to an RT? _________________ Steve

Here's a quick picture. I already have the other side apart and there isn't much room in the garage with the other bike in there.

Sweet, I love the looks of those bikes, would love to ride one some time, but from what I hear they're a bit clunkity-clunkity compared to our smooth K's.
Let me know if you need a test pilot! _________________ Steve

NICE BIKE!
I dunno' about the onboard feel of the R1100, but at HMIII- our NZ friend Darryl was pretty fast and smooth on his oilhead. Yes it was an R1100S, but the motor is the same.
Great find. |
