Anyone have any luck with oil additives? I think my Hall Effect Sensor seal is leaking. I haven't been able to pin point the leak yet but there is seepage from the HES cover. It's not bad enough to panic and I don't want to get into it now. I am coming up on an oil change soon. What say all you? _________________ "Badges? We don't need no stinking badges"!

Try if you wish - I don't think anything in a can or bottle will cure oil leaks -
except maybe heavier oil. _________________ Dave Norris KOG 248

Hello!
There is a sealing ring at HAL base, it is easy to remove after the timing chain cover is removed.

Know EXACTLY what you mean !!
And yes, I've used proprietory "seal additives" over the years as a temp fix. One was soooooo good [ Lucas ] that I never did bother to attend to the source - as it completely stopped it!
I've also used Wynns and STP Stop Leak - both to good effect.
The auto trans stop leak is also ace - softens up the rubber seals and "refreshes" them - especially good if a car has been laid up for 12 months or so. Good luck _________________ Beachcomber '93 K1100RS / '93 K1100LT and several K100's |

Not exactly the same but my son had a small but persistent leak on an 10 yr old Volvo gearbox a while back, quoted megabucks to replace the leaky seal.
He tried some product from a British firm called FROSTS,who market stuff for repairing/restoring old classic cars.It said it helped to "restore" dried out or damaged oilseals, came in about a 200ml bottle (sorry,I cannot remember the product name but I am sure it is on Frosts website)
Hey Presto , about twentyfour hours after adding the product to his gearbox, leak stopped and was still oiltight 30,000 miles later !
Just looked it up, its called Millers oils "Stop Leak" 250 ml bottle.
