I know that this is an old topic, but thought that I'd ask to see if anyone has a new solution. The snap fasteners that hold on my mirrors have lost a couple "petals" each and the mirrors are getting wobbly each time I hit a bump in the road. I'd like to not have one fall off if I can avoid it.
Any (new) ideas? I will have some time to work on the bike, now that I've been (involuntarily) retired from full-time employment.

The same thing happened to mine. I bought a used mirror with good fasteners on it. You have to remove the mirror glass. I managed to break mine and had to get another one. Supposedly you slap the mirror housing down on a flat padded surface and the glass will pop out. That didn't work for me.
Then I took it apart, carefully splitting the housing along the seam, it's just glued. Then you can remove the metal ball mounting plate inside the shell that also holds the plate that has the snaps on it and swap it with your old mirror. Then just glue the shell back together and your in business.
I also painted the extra shell so I have a spare one. _________________ Rod Kilduff

I'd just put some 5 minute epoxy in them and "glue" them on. That will hold them tight but epoxy isn't as permanent as some people assume so they could still be removed if necessary. _________________ 93 LT (x2)
