I own a 1992 K100RS 16-valve, performance is O.K. except for the mid-range, which two-up can be a bit lacking.
I've compared the power and torque curves of my bike with those of the K1100RS and LT, the K1100 has a far meatier mid-range.
Has anyone ever replaced the K100RS 16-valve camshafts with those of the K1100 and what performance differences were noted.
(First question so a big 'hello' to everyone!). |

Just knock it down a gear. K bikes like high RPMs.
Part of the reason the K1100 has more power is probably that it's got 10% larger displacement. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

The K1100 engine does not have more power than the 1000cc 16 valves engine (K1 and K100RS1) but have more torque.
Yes you can replace the camshafts with K11 ones, then you'll have more torque and less power. Now you should first check that you bike is properly tuned. _________________ I am not a number, I am a free man.

I was using the term "power" generically, not specifically referring to horsepower. You're right about the torque. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

The main reason I went from a 16V K100RS to my K1100RS was the midrange torque. It makes a big difference in general ridability in and out of corners and in heavy traffic. No quicker flat out but just sweeter to ride. You can't beat cubic inches _________________ There is only now, yesterday is gone and is unchangeable, tomorrow is uncertain. Live in the moment. |
